Benanti in Almaty

Benanti — pioneers of modern winemaking on Etna

Benanti is one of the key families in the history of Etna winemaking. The winery’s modern project began in 1988, when Giuseppe Benanti set out to show the potential of the volcanic terroir and the local grape varieties.

Every slope of one volcano

The winery works on different slopes of Etna, each with its own soils, altitude and microclimate. Through its Contrade Selection, Benanti conveys the individual character of single plots and honours centuries-old local winegrowing traditions.

Native grapes and signature wines

White wines are based on Carricante, reds on Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Key wines include the mineral, age-worthy Etna Bianco Superiore Pietra Marina and limited Etna Rosso Riserva from single old plots, some of them pre-phylloxera.
