Grand Tokaj — the modern face of a historic wine region
Grand Tokaj works in the famous Tokaj-Hegyalja region in north-eastern Hungary. Volcanic soils, long autumns and the nearby Bodrog and Tisza rivers create the conditions for both dry white wines and the legendary sweet Tokaji Aszú.
The region’s main grape is Furmint: it gives wines with high acidity, minerality and great ageing potential. Together with Hárslevelű and other traditional varieties, it shapes the recognisable style of Tokaj.
The Grand Tokaj range covers fresh dry wines, late harvest and complex dessert wines from berries touched by noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. This breadth shows the modern diversity of one of Europe’s oldest wine regions.
