The heritage of Fraternita dei Laici since 1263
Fraternita dei Laici is the oldest public institution in Arezzo, founded in 1263, and became the basis for Tenute di Fraternita in the early 2000s. The company manages 1,300 hectares of land, including 46 hectares of vineyards and 22 hectares of olive groves in the Chianti DOCG zone.
Tenute di Fraternita has several production sites.
Cantina Moderna is the heart of modern production: steel tanks holding 3,600 hectolitres, fermentation with wild yeasts and no additives, strictly controlled temperatures (up to 26 °C for red wines), and the whole system runs on solar panels. Cantina di Affinamento is the ageing cellar, where red, white and sweet wines mature in barriques, caratelli and barrels. In Cantina della Palazzina, set in a 1900 building, wine is kept in concrete vats. The Acetaia, set apart from the others, is where traditional Tuscan specialities mature slowly.
